Judge not that thou be not judged,

is that not what the words say?

Yet how many of us paid attention?

How many of us judged anyway?

In our all encompassing intelligence,

embracing that arrogance of youth,

how many of us foolishly dared to say,

Not I, I will never those things do!,”

as we sat back ever so smugly,

observing the mistakes of others,

"those so anciently older than us:

Our elders, not sisters and brothers.

I will never be like Mom or Dad,

on this you can surely count.”

But then so many years later,

the saddest truth we found out.

While we were yet judging them,

the words barely leaving our lips,

our words were shaping our futures,

our feet were beginning to slowly slip.

'Till one fine day and to our dismay,

we discovered what we had become.

There was no denying the simple fact:

We are just like our Dad and our Mom

" Karma taking heed of our errant knack,

in that day when pots call kettles black ...
