A Poem by Marvin Thomas Cox-Flynn de Graham
"

Yeah, hell yeah, I likes to get kinky some times, and had best do it whilst I am alive, above ground, can be found, and shall never dread being dead ... Philosophical thoughts set to page ...

As one who once thought

-- in naïve boast of youth --

that time truly stood still,

to open my eyes to suddenly

find time, piling on the years.

Years gone by in cascading,

rushing torrents of present,

now become the past,

and any future but a hoped for

glimmer of a tomorrow:

A tomorrow that has not arrived,

and can never be held in hand,

until the future becomes the present,

cascading in ever rushing torrents,

of the present becoming the past.

And the future upon that horizon

of nonexistent existence as but only

a hoped for glimmer of a new tomorrow

that has not arrived, and may well never,

until the future becomes the present -- again.

The present to vaporize, in ever so suddenly,

becoming the past, all over again,

in a vicious cycle of that which,

was fresh and new, quickly becoming,

that which is old and forever gone,

I stand at the precipice that is

the nearing end of my life in old age,

with impending death lurking

just around the next bend,

unseen for the moment,

but I stand assured that my living

shall soon come to an unalterable end ...

This poem is a poignant reflection on the passage of time and the inevitability of death. The author captures the sense of loss and regret that comes with the realization that time is slipping away, and that life is finite. The imagery is powerful and evocative, and the emotions it evokes are raw and honest. It's a reminder of the importance of living in the present and cherishing the moments we have, as we never know when our time will come to an end. The poem is a beautiful meditation on the human condition, and a testament to the power of poetry to capture the essence of our shared experience.

Well, Marvin, it's a time sensitive proposition from the gitgo. No way to sue for breech of contract. Nothing we can do but sit back and make the best of it, moment by moment.

Thanks for reading and for your kind comment, John ...
as Credence sang "There's a place up ahead and I'm going, just as fast as my feet can fly."
we flew through the sixties and yet time seemed to stand still...
now we slow down and time hurries on "and the leaves that are green turn to brown, and they wither in the wind, and they crumble in your hand"
I guess we all say hello to death sooner or later.
This poem pulled me in.

Yes Marvin. I think on the long nights. Where did life escape to.
"A tomorrow that has not arrived,
and can never be held in hand,
until the future becomes the present,
cascading in ever rushing torrents,"
The above lines were my favorite. You said everything needed. The torrents of life can twist-up our thoughts. Thank you my friend for sharing the amazing poetry.
