When Sands No Longer Whisper

sinking upon the sea of life youth's arrogance run aground no bearings to mark a position old friends no longer found
'twas only just yesterday yesterday some forty years ago a time when we were so young and time it moved so slow
but time is a rolling stone rolling stones gather no moss one by one I see them dying feel the pain of their loss
candles lighting my life one by one are flickering out as the arrogance of my youth turns to fear and doubt
the mirror reveals a face of someone that I never knew a man tired old and wrinkled clueless to how time flew
memories flood my mind life is passing before my eyes is there one thing that's worthy to remember when I die
grains cease their tinkling a dead silence now fills the air as sands no longer whispering come to rest without care
living like no tomorrow clueless to when life shall pass 'twas the plight of my insanity for life's but an hourglass
there always comes a time when sands no longer whisper all the silence of our passing our only remaining vesper …
