We got lost that day
In the woods, walking.
Couldn’t hear the
river anymore, lost.
I was your compass.
Well, supposed to find our way
At least a broken clock
is always right, even twice a day
Did you know you can
make a watch into a compass?
Too bad we didn’t have one
of those either.
But we didn’t panic, no, not ever
just wandering & sticking together.
Together,
Slowly
Carelessly
Happily
walking like we always do,
always ever did, me & you
Feeling like the world broke away
Rejected us
Ignored us
Perhaps just didn’t or
couldn’t see us that day.
Separated from the universe,
Quiet, still, the forest it was
Time slowed
Time stopped
Time dilated
Isolated, but not lonely
& surely not alone
It was just us, U S
In a special vacuum
of existence.
of nature.
The path out of the woods
Grew less & less important
As we wandered through
Suspended in time
A different plane of
E X I S T E N C E
At times we didn’t even
know or care if we were
…In the Black forest or not,
And just took any
old path, didn’t matter.
It was so peaceful
U l t i m a t e S o l i t u d e
A way to stop the world
When we wanted to get off.
Leaves rustled as our
Feet thudded on firm earth
Beneath ourselves.
It was a needed break from
‘You and me vs. the world’
A daily battle, blood sport
For surviving each day.
Now with the world was a
friend(ly) truce was made
We could breath easy, relax
Our tired bones, worn down
Absorbed new energy, from
The trees that surround
us house singing birds, many
that were heard all around
We followed each other,
Making circles in the moist Spring dirt
Perfect weather to be wearing your skirt
We forgot about lost and mindful of
Only each other, loving, like two doves
Our space
Our forest
Our world
Our time
Together this was so special
Substantive & not tangential
Circles we make until a trench nearly dug
Stepping around and over every little bug
I hear it now, louder, it’s down,
Over there, yonder and around
Did the river bend make sound
We’ve been spotted, it was us it had found
Back to the world, the one that surrounds
No longer our space
Glad we didn’t race
Without wanting to be found, it had been left up to fate
Our hike was finished now as happenstance would dictate
