If I didn't know better

If I didn't know better

A Poem by SarahCortland
"

thinking in disbelief

"

If I didn't know better I wouldn't believe

believe anything of you hurting me

If I didn't know better you'd still be my friend

you were everything I couldn't see

If I didn't know better I would shake my head

laugh at all of them for such things

If I didn't know better it wouldn't be you

I'd answer the phone when it rings

If I didn't know better I'd still love you

i'd ignore everyone

If I didn't no better this wuldn't be over

this wouldn't be done

If I didn't know better it'd be easier to belive

to love and to see

but i guess I didn't want to

for i still can't believe

Love makes us blind I know because when I read this my auntie comes to mind and how she knelt at a man's shadow. The repetiion emphasizes on the growth of the narrator and the the closing is a abrupt for me, but yeah, it's good. Thank you for sharing.

Oh my dear, trusting in the one you love and saying back the hell down to the people around you is, one of the hardest things to do.
For some odd reason, so many people are always trying to get rid of love, but I never understood why, I mean.. It's hard enough to find in the first place.
Any ways, you portrayed emotions beautifully and strongly in this piece.
Keep writing^_^

Really like the repetition going on here. It becomes like a chant that I can mentally imagine some one saying. Very nice poem.

"You were everything I couldn't see.." amazing line- amazing poem! You kinda hit home for me with this.

this was a tough poem. The object of these feelings has been reduced to complete irrelevancy. It shows a lot of personal growth.

Good write. That sarcastic realization of things gone right and things gone wrong.
