I once knew you

Old friends

Years ago we were once close.

You were my best friend

we did everything together

truly never seeing an end.

 

Years passed by and times changed.

You became different as did I.

We befriended other people and moved to new places.

forgetting eachother as time went by.

 

By chance I ran into you again

both of us visiting this old place.

you had changed as had I

you wore a new face.

 

No talking could make up for the lost.

There was nothing we could.

So we said goodbye and gave a smile

remembering you were some I once knew.

I really loved this.
Reminds me of quite a few people in my life who I was once close to and the ocean of life had us sail in different directions. I see them every now and again but the glory days are long gone.

Good write. Growing apart is a gradual thing and just is sometimes. You always have the good times to remember though.
