It should've been me

It should've been me

A Poem by SarahCortland
"

I had a dream awhile back that my mom was dying and I couldn't stop it.

"

I ran I chased you

I saw you ahead

I called to you

but no reply was said

The end was near

but you couldn't  see

I knew it was there

I just couldn't let it be.

You kept moving

I tried to yell.

At that moment life was flashing

you tripped and fell.

Screaming I was

yet trapped in my fear

invisble forces held me still

I screamed yet you couldn't hear

The car was speeding

while you tried  to stand

I still couldn't move

Though i saw what was at hand

The crash was slow

savoring my pain

your scream heart wrenching

it drove me insane

I broke free of the hold

I took off in a sprint

I got to your side

and you had already went

My heart was broken

The pictures wouldn't leave

Your face etched in my mind

I couldn't believe.

I saw you died

I was forced to see

I had tried so hard to stop it

It should've been me.

"Screaming I was" watch out when you write lines like these, makes you sound like yoda. "I saw you died" i feel like it should be die instead of died. The action was that of dying the process, the speaker didn't see her died. I really love this poem, heartwrenching.

I thought I read this one anyhow regrets they do no good at all except in writing where we can. Put them as so they do not keep the brain too busy. Being the survivor does not always feel like good luck.
