Loving you isn't worth the cost

Sometimes we love someone so much we let them hurt us. We find we have to care about ourselves

I looked up to you

I cared what you thought

I gave things up

I never fought

 

I looked to you for advice

I took your words to heart

I loved you more than anything

I cared from the start

 

I let you have my soul

I gave you anything I could

I felt your pain

I gave in and you knew I would

 

I cried at night remembering it all

I hid it from everyone

I lied to save you

I tried and I'm done

 

I told to save myself

I gave to help me

I needed and wanted you

I can't but now I'm free

I really liked this poem. You have a very emotional style that bleeds the spirits that inspire your work. This poem is great work. I really like it. I think repetition is not always great, but you have mastered it. It truly is your strength. I always enjoy it, but I also feel that it is a comfort zone you need to step out of. Your confidence as a writer will grow. You have the potential to be great in many areas all at once. I apologize if I sound critical...I mean it all with the utmost respect to your work...but IMO it will transition you into a place where your writing will startle yourself.
