Fighting with a friend

 

In a time of Hatred

In a time of fear

you left me unprotected

you left me right here

Alone and shaking

unable to fight

scared and tired.

Everything wrong and nothing right.

In a time of hatred

In a time of fear

you allowed me to cower

You chose not to hear.

Tired and helpless

you left me to fend.

No one by my side

only hope for the end

In a time of hatred

in a time of fear

you were my enemy

you fought me here.

This rings reminiscent of an old epic styled poem. Feels like the opening to an old play. I love the meter of it...almost like the solider footsteps trudging through the aftermath of a dreary battle.

The poem reminds me of "Dirt Room" by Blue October. Anyways, I like it too, has a very waterfall flow.

The sadness of having the betrayal of a friend; it's so not cool, but yeah, I could feel the lonliness in the beginning slowly churnning to rage and anger.

Absolutely adore it, and the best part about this poem is that it inspires me about one of my own books.
