Demons

Demons

A Poem by Michelle Raye
"

We all have them.

"

It stares at them with evil eyes

It does nothing about our friends' cries

It leaves behind your useless dreams

It tears away at your life's seams

It walks away from those who care

It continues staring with that evil glare

It scratches at you form inside out

It mutters words of fear and doubt

It laughs at your trips

It laughs at your slips

It laughs at your falls

It laughs at your calls

It is awful and sick

As it continues to pick

Away at your soul

To make itself full

This creature

You see it in every picture

You see it in the mirror

You see it more clearer

It's a demon that lives inside

It's a demon that won't let you hide

It's a demon who laughs at your fake gall

It's a demon that live in us all

Very nice.
I can relate to this, and i'm sure everyone else can also.
Everyone had inner demons, and at one point or another, they come out.

I fight my lil' demons, the ghosts from my past, and I sit and wonder, how long it's going to last...

Oh yes, we certainly all have our inner demons. Quite easy to relate to this poem.

Thanks for sharing!

I like the rhyme scheme and the repetition but I think it kinda gets overdone towards the end. I think you could probably add a bit more drama by stating the idea then building off of it and changing up the pattern of each stanza. [Note: Just my opinion, I'm not trying to change your writing or make you do anything.]

For example, instead of:

This creature
You see it in every picture
You see it in the mirror
You see it more clearer

It's a demon that lives inside
It's a demon that won't let you hide
It's a demon who laughs at your fake gall
It's a demon that live in us all

You could say:

This creature
You see it in every picture
In every mirror
It's even clearer

It's a demon that lives inside
Won't let you hide
Laughs at your pride

It's a demon that laughs at your fake gall
Helps you to fall
Lives inside us all.
