In the Sky

In the Sky

A Poem by Victoria Lillian Lewis
"

This is about my sister who died before I entered the world, on the fourth of July.

"
In the virgin night air
I look to the stars
I see explosions and hear their rumble
And then I wonder where you are

I imagine your face
Aged older than mine
I see your smile
I wish I could reverse time

So during this day
to celebrate the 4th
I wonder about you sister
With your short life and death so close to birth

Dying as a infant
on the most American of days
I was never meant to meet you
but still I long for you in many ways

I hold on to the false memories
We were never able to create
Because I was born in '89
And you stopped living in '78

I think of illusive recollections
to see how you loved
And to feel your essence
While you live on  high up above

Now while sparks burn the night sky
I think of your laughter
I dream that we can meet
Either now or in the hereafter

I can imagine your form
And try to envision your spirit
But you're living with me
because I can feel all of it

Know my love is there with you
Where ever you truly are
I dream we can meet
My divine big sister shining star
