I

I

A Poem by O’Sealburgh

You stand before me
I can’t be sure
My eyes have seen
this truth before.
Your perfect hand
embracing mine;
your scent on my shoulder
all that’s left behind.

My heart it pounds
a beat, somehow
matching your thigh
against me now.
Your eyes, my very
soul they show
I can’t look long;
I can’t let go.

And so we share
this sacred night,
this blissful moment,
this lovers’ plight.
I hope it means
as much to you
as it to me
and you do too.

So I will carry,
carry on
as well you’ll do
though not be gone.
For through the pain
at least I’ll say:
“How happy she
does look today.”
