I’d Have Forgiven You…

I’d Have Forgiven You…

A Poem by Matt Fellows

If I'd have had eyes in the shadows on the wall,
If I had tempted the devil with a mirror turned over,
I'd have forgiven you.
If my heart had not raced furiously in last place,
If my gritted teeth had unclenched and scooped up s**t,
I'd have forgiven you.
I sleep with half of my eyes open,
Time doubled when you halved your speech to stammers,
Eyes gazed upon then over,
"Tag, I'm it!"
When does this burden outstay its welcome?
