Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum?

"

The vibe and the energy in Ancient Ale’s was absolutely infectious. You couldn’t help but grabbing a bottle of rum and carrying on with no inhibitions and cursing like a sailor. We looked at each other and grinned, these guys were definitely pirates. Their accents, their countenance, their behavior, their incessant talk about treasures, girls and other pirate-related topics were a dead giveaway. With a bottle of untouched rum in both of our hands, Aureliana and I try our best to make it seem as though we have done this many a times before.

Sitting on a stool, practically attached at the hip with Aurie all I can say is, “Wow.”

Aureliana smiles, “We did it”

I grin, “We are in a pub sipping rum with the most dangerous pirates on this very planet”

We silently make a toast with our bottles of rum, Aureliana glugs down more than half of her rum as I pretend to take a sip and slowly take in everything that is going on in the room.

When I glance back at Aureliana, she is already downing her second bottle of rum. In complete and total shock, I rip the bottle away from her mouth, “You need to slow down! I cannot have you drunk beyond recognition when you’re the only one who knows how to get us back home!”

Aureliana laughed, “Have fun Cedelle! We should dance!”

I smiled, “Are you insane? There isn’t any music!”

“Then we have to make music! You didn’t expect for us to only lay our asses on bar stools and look cute all night did you?”

My mouth dropped open, “You swore! I cannot believe you just swore!”

She laughed, “It’s the rum talking my darling”

Aureliana stood up and banged her stool on the ground several times, finally gathering all of the alleged pirates’ attentions. I sat there and was in between laughing and blushing as I watched my semi-drunken friend climb up on her bar stool.

“Here Ye! Here ye! My gorgeous friend”, She points to me, “and I were curious to know if you all were pirates”

A roar of drunken men lifted up their bottles and cups and glasses of rum in cheers and yells and screams. Once the crowd died down once again, one pirate stood up amongst the rest.

“Hell yeah we are pirates!” A slender pirate with piercings up and down his left ear called out with his rum in one hand as his other hand grips the table for balance.

Aureliana obnoxiously began to laugh, “Of course you guys are not pirates” She jumped up on the table, “When I travel the seven seas with pirates, I always have a sinfully good time and just look at my friend over there, she has never been out on the town like this and she is about to doze right off in your pub because you all are boring her to death!”

I begin to blush more and more, when will this embarrassment stop? I look up at Aureliana and she’s reaching her hand to me. I start to violently shake my head when I knew that this would be a night that I would never forget, so let’s make it unforgettable. I slam down my rum on the table and climb up with Aureliana.

“You know what? She is right! You guys are the most pathetic bunch of pirates I have ever laid eyes on! When I think about pirates I think about gambling, games, rum, music and dancing” I cannot believe I am actually holding the attention of over 30 pillaging pirates!

Another pirate stood up, “Listen here little lady, we don’t dance”

I ignored his outburst and pointed to a random pirate, “You there! What’s your name?”

He took a sip of his rum, “Pintel”

“Well Pintel, what are you looking at? Get the music started! We will teach you all how to dance”

With a chorus of harmonicas, pipes, whistles, rum bottles hitting tables and clapping Aureliana and I begin dancing on top of a table flirting and entertaining with whoever was watching.

In mid-spin I say, “I cannot believe you actually jumped upon this table!”

Aureliana smiled, “No! I cannot believe YOU actually jumped upon this very table WITH me!”

I laughed, “I cannot believe I did this either!”

“Was it the rum talking?”, Aureliana winked

I stopped dancing and smiled, “No, it was all me”

She hit my shoulder, “I knew you always had it in you!”

I smiled and looked down at a miniature crowd of about five pirates right below our feet, I leaned down, “What can we do you for gentlemen?”

A few of them blushed and smiled as one said, “We thought that you lovely ladies of the night could use a little more space to dance about”

Aureliana smiled, “Well that’s awful kind of you, but my eyes do not see a clear space where we can use for dancing”

After she said that, another group of pirates started pushing tables out of the clearing out an area for us.

I thanked the pirates and said, “We would love”, placing emphasis on the word love, “to teach some of you how to dance, but we can’t get down”

Aurie grabbed my hand and yelled, “CATCH!”

We jumped into the arms of two strong pirates and we kissed their cheeks as they led us over to the newly established dance floor. A larger crowd of pirates crowded around as we quickly decided to teach them a little dance routine. It was fun to teach a group of drunken pirates how to do a few twirls and how to point their toes on the dance floor. I took Aureliana’s hand and began dancing with her showing off our best moves.

I couldn’t stop grinning, “This is the best night of my life!”

Aurie spun me around, “I knew you would have fun! You just needed a little taste of freedom and…”

A pirate spun me away and lifted me up into the air as I yelled, “I CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF IT!”

A group of pirates lifted Aureliana up also and we began to surf the wave of pirates in the room.

Aureliana cracked up and asked, “Can we get some rum up here?”

Immediately two bottles of rum were tossed up into the air and landed into our hands.

I leaned over to talk to Aurie, “You know what I thought was really amusing?”

Sadly ripping her third bottle of rum from her mouth she replied with a simple, “What?”

“They think we are ladies of the night! Can you believe it?” I said with a giggle

With a slight slur to her speech, Aurie said, “Well aren’t we?”

I laughed, “You are so drunk!”

As the pirates finally put us down, I took her nearly empty bottle of rum and gave it to a random pirate and tried to get everyone’s attention, “Hey guys, hey guys! I would wholeheartedly appreciate it if you all could do something for me”

An obnoxious cheer erupted amongst all of the pirates.

I started to laugh, “No, no, no, not along the lines that you all are thinking of! I had to wait for the small chorus of “aww!” ‘s to die down before starting again. “I need you all to make sure that my friend…” I trailed off as I quickly scanned the room for Aureliana, I found her passed out on a wooden table, “Can you all please ensure that she does not have not one more drop of rum tonight?”

All of the pirates began to joke and jeer, secretly hoping that they would agree with me, one pirate said, “Miss, we’re pirates! What on earth do you want us to do? Give her water to help her sober up?”

I smiled, “That would be great! Thank you all so very mu…”

“Weren’t you the lassie that was not having a grand time a minute ago?” A pirate interrupted

I blushed just a bit, “Well yes, but I…”

“Fellas, we can’t let this lovely lady leave without enjoying herself” Another pirate joined in

I rolled my eyes, trying to have a little bit of an attitude, “And what makes you believe I am not enjoying myself, I’ve had bottles and bottles of rum” That was a huge untruth, “I’ve taught you pirates how to dance and I have met a good hand of you all! If I said I was having the time of my life that would be an understatement”

A small of group of pirates began to smile and whisper amongst themselves, “By far miss” said that same pirate that interrupted me moments ago, “You are the most polite and proper lady of the night I have ever met”

I wasn’t sure to get nervous or to be enormously flattered, “Well I am fairly new to being a lady of a night”

“How new?” He asked

I smirked, “That is something for my knowledge only, and so what do your typical ladies of the night do for you all?”

“Little lady” Another listening pirate started

“If you have to ask that question, you are not cut out for being a lady of the night” Another pirate finished

I laughed, “What do you all think? Am I cut out for being a lady of the night?”

Another chorus of murmurs and whispers broke out after I asked my question. “she is just your typical peasant” “there is no way she is a peasant with language like that” “where did she come from?” “she talks like she lives in the northern part of France” “think she could be a part of our crew?” “what is her name, did you happen to catch it?” “she is beautiful, I think she would be perfect for him”…

I turned in the direction of the last comment I heard, “You think I would be perfect for?” I asked growing with curiosity for an answer.

The pirate tapped the top of my head, “No one sweetheart, he’s not your concern”

I grabbed the pirate’s hand and twirled around, “Please tell me of whom you are speaking of for I am mere seconds from dying of curiosity if you leave me ignorant of this person”

The pirate laughed, “My, my, my, you sure have a way with words. I was talking of our captain” My eyes enlarged in wonder when I realized that I have not even met the best of these pirates.

“Captain” I whispered to myself

He smiled, “He is residing in one of the rooms down the hall. Just to let you knows, he is a tough cookie to crack” I began to grow a stitch of nervousness, “But the captain might be drawn to you for there is something a bit mysterious about you”

I blushed through the rouge that, the passed out, Aureliana had applied to my cheeks hours ago. “I guess I can give it a shot right?” I took a deep breath asked for a bottle of rum and slowly walked down the hall.
