Grayson

A Poem by U N I C O R N S AND Z E B R A S

'Round and 'round here we go hiding the treasures
up in the tree tapped to a string,
just so we can torture you.
Soon, oh soon, you'll grow as old as me
but please don't hurry fast.
Being young is fun.
Remembering the times where I was going
after those eggs, why can't that be me anymore?
Helping you race fast to get the eggs
not paying attention to the high ones,
there were too many so we scattered them in a line
who will get to them first?
You silly boy, you started quickly getting the eggs
missing your basket.
Just standing there laughing,
you are such a cutie.
You tell me you're almost six,
how can that be? I remember you just as
a tiny baby boy.
You can't carry your bag no more,
it's too heavy. Why don't you save some
for the others?
You won't listen to me,
oh goodness,
I remember being just as suborned
as you, soon you'll wanna let the others
have the same fun as you have.
There comes a time in life where you can
be the person having fun, and then creating the fun.
It's a blast making the fun for you.
