Mind of The Flash

I've been running from the cops for ages

They've always thought that they could catch me

But they can't; they're just not fast enough...

I've heard from the news that I'm the new Flash

Not in a good way though... more so in a bad way...

 

What I did was a horrible crime,

I sliced a man’s throat without a second thought

He bled to death in my arms.

At night the sirens haunt me in my dreams,

The thought of living in a cell

Daunts me;

I need to escape this hell.

 

Sweat and tears clashed together as I killed another cop,

A sharp pain throbbed in my hand, a dagger being the source...

I was going crazy, hearing things that were created by my mind

I needed to talk to someone, someone who could take this dagger out of my hand

Or else the population would fade away slowly around me.

 

A loud commotion woke me abruptly,

A pretty girl with black hair

& eyes that of the ocean;

Groggily I smiled and sat up quickly.

Confusion raced across my face.

 

The breathtaking girl came back

Waving at me to follow her,

As I trailed behind her, I heard background noises

Shouts and moans for me to go back,

But then she grabbed me by the neck and threw me into a river.

 

The water enveloped me, embraced me.

I had to fight my way to the surface,

My head came up, taking a deep breath of air,

I glanced around myself,

And realized I was all alone in a forest

I didn’t even know.

 

My heart pounded with fury as water dripped from my hair.

I shouted until my lungs burned, my echoes repeating each time.

Was there any reason to really live and be the infamous Flash?

Either way, I would have to continue running or turn myself in,

But which path would bring fortune, and which, despair?

 

I held my head high and remembered my name,

I will continue this race against New York’s best,

Flash will ring through everybody’s mind,

They’ll remember my name, amongst the great.

They'll never forget the face of me, Flash.

This is our version of the Flash. It may be similar and may be different.
It's more of a crime style way :)

It breaks my heart to think of my beloved Berry Allan turning to crime... I guess it happens to the best of us though, power eventually gets to one's head. No one should be that unreachable. I don't know who Kesha is but you guys make a great team. I'm very into rhyming schemes but this was very fun to read even though it didn't rhyme a whole lot. Thanks for sharing.

Critique: (I've heard from the news that I'm the new Flash) heard the news - the preposition "from" is unnecessary

Review: To work in tandem with another writer is no simple task so you collaboration with Kesha may be the best part of this I applaud you both. Interesting plot, I have a number of the Flashes early comic books and can tell you that there have been times where Berry was thought to be on the wrong side of the law so your idea is not that far fetched. I like the way you described the water, almost in a nuturing way, then followed it up with a near fatal and more suffocating description. I like the push-pull in your writing. Nice work.
