Our past (Story)

I feel your head resting on my shoulder

You may fall asleep, but deep down inside, I know you're awake

I know that the past is still haunting you to this moment and it'll torture you till you die

You shudder and change corners way too often and breath heavily

But we've got to be strong!

For each other...

For our future...

We can't let those memories haunt us and add more misery to our life

We can't let them win... because in the end we'll be the winners!

The strongest people alive and the most peace bringing ones

We'll be everyone's role models... imagine that!

We are learning our lesson from our mistakes

Just like author's learn from their mistakes when his or her book's publishing is rejected

But... what is our mistake? 

What is our dreadful past in which we want to rectify and forget?

Past does haunt us in ways we never thought of..
This was a melancholic read with self reflections strewn in every word..
Some suggestions: "it's mistakes" should be "his mistakes" as it's an author you're talking about or "their mistakes"
The last line: "in" should not be there..
