A Poem by Beaudyn

In my mind I look to see, who my lover ought to be
A lover, not a fighter, a singer or even writer
Tall, dark, handsome, a strapping young beau
Or the guy down the road, just a plain old Joe
He’d love me the most on my days of contempt
And he’d shift to my thoughts, every night while I dreamt
We’d always be together, you could say a perfect pair
He’d gaze into my eyes, and run his hands through my hair
And it would be then, that I matched his stare
It would be all that he needed, to know that I care
