Sick againA Poem by DianeI wake up in the morning about two a.m. to the sound of my child coughing up phlegm I bounce out of bed and down the hall When I reach the room I could hear her call Back to my room my little one goes snug in my bed and ready to go The coughing doesn't stop and now there's sniffles too Breathing treatments all night and Benadryl too. I hate it when they are sick and there's nothing I can do Makes me feel scared and useless too When the morning comes and she ain't feeling better She's skipping school because I know better When a child sick and had a lack of sleep taking them to school would make me a bleep We have an appointment at eleven a.m. It takes a while to get us in Every seat is takin and the place is packed every child is coughing and us mother look like crap Our name is called and we go in We only wait a minute till the doctor walked in She checks her ears and breathing too Just as I thought ear infection and sinus too Meds were prescribed and she will start to mend Thank goodness for western medician Now that the poem has come to an end We are gonna rest See Y'all later I'll write another mess.
