Too Good To Be True

Too Good To Be True

A Poem by Dylan Cook

 Is the so-called American Dream

Too good to be ever really  be true

When we have to listen to children scream

I want to help them but what can I do

Is it just Too good to be true

It makes me feel so very blue

To think it's just only a few

That know the right thing to do

Animals and people are killed;

Treated as if they were the same

But this is not what they willed;

Our founding fathers didn't want pain

Is it just Too good to be true

It makes me feel so very blue

To think it's just only a few

That know the right thing to do

Will this be the only legacy we leave?

What we wouldn't give for certain peace

To never ever have to ever constantly grieve

We want all wars to stop, to forever cease

Is it just Too good to be true
