An Angel with Dark WingsA Poem by mrdee53Using myself as the character, but giving it the form that more people can relate to. People don't seem to take male depression/self harm/suicidal thoughts as seriously as they should. There once was a girl with a heart of gold,
whose kindness was never slack She wore dark clothing and her skin was
pale, her hair was void and black Whenever she could, she would help anyone,
with whatever they might need And no one ever, questioned if she, was more
than what she seemed
“Call me whenever you need me” she’d say, a
hopeful look in her eye Always wanting to help people with, their
problems and no one asked why From boyfriends to girlfriends from parents
to pets, her advice was always the best She laughed it off, when despite her
intentions, her offers were met with jest
But then one day, she didn't arrive, to
school on Monday morn And all those who used her, wanted her
attention, didn’t know where she had gone Her parents found out, when she didn’t come
down, to breakfast for jam and bread They saw the rope around her neck, they
knew that she was dead
They came to the house, one by one, to deal
with how they feel She was always an angel, with a heart of
gold, how could they possibly deal With the fact that the girl, who gave them
the world, who never asked for it back Had needed attention, all to her own, her
world, her life, was black
She always wore sleeves to cover the scars,
her pain, she couldn’t bear She wept and she moaned, totally alone, for
they never knew they were there For every piece of advice, and every offer
of company, was much, much more than it seemed Every time she would ask, was a cry for
help, for inside her, darkness teemed
Never forget, that those who you know, who
you use for advice when you are in need Sometimes need more, than you do at times,
they want not your time for greed For this pale black haired girl, who always
wore sleeves, is gone now and so we sing Love your friends, your family, yourself,
and your angels with dark, broken wings © 2013 mrdee53 |
