Please Go

Please Go

A Poem by Michael Atherton
"

Lyrics I'm trying out...

"
You're back again
No one knew how to love me
Until you

The way you lift your heels
The way your heartbeat feels
On my skin

So, I implore you
Please go.
Run as far as you can
Run until you find a new man
Please go.

You're back again
No one knew how to leave me
Until you

The way you jigsaw this mess
The way you give me your best
But not your all

So, I implore you
Please go.
Run as far as you can
Run until you find a new man
Please go.

If you glance back over your shoulder
You'll see the chains behind my eyes
The pang of your name lies
Inside

So, I implore you
Please go.
Run as far as you can
Run until you find a new man
Please go.
Please go.
Please -

Those are exceptional lyrics and I would love to listen to the song someday. Ah, some loves make us feel so high and so low with their presence. And these loves feel like chains, like our freedom and sustaining depends on their existence, on their manipulation of us. At least, the protagonist realizes this love gives him her best, but not her all. That's no love worth keeping.
