Resisting the Urge

Resisting the Urge

A Poem by Rufus "Mr Blaque" Lacy, Jr

We are creatures
Individuals who inhabit this planet
As a whole
Trying to show our dominance
But we fall victim to the traps

Allowing others to push and pull us
Stand up to the temptations
Be firm to the words of treachery
Because the abilities that is held
Is greater than the cosmos

Yes, larger than the hand
That suspends the earth
In orbit for billions of years
Allowing the self-conscience
To sustain the integrity of humanity

Nice. So celestial, so ginormous. (as your poetry seems to repeatedly be.

In the second stanza:
"Because the abilities that is held
Is greater than the cosmos"- should be:
Because the abilities that are held
Are greater than the cosmos.

Great job! Big concepts, big ideas

My mind just exploded.
Okay, I've read it again, and I have to say, this is great! We all want to show dominance or our greatness, but things drag us down and keep us from our dreams, right? What we hold in us, in our soul is greater than anything. What we have is worth it and we should not give it up for anything or anyone. I really enjoy it. It just, made sense and was a great poem. I really enjoyed it.
