Epic Steps

By: Nick Workman

A new pad of paper to express my feelings

I don’t really hate her but she sends me reeling

I can’t keep dealing with how she f***s with my head

Screaming so loud to drown out the words she said

My face turns red from her stench in my sheets

But I couldn’t feel this way from any wench on the streets

I kept my receipts but couldn’t return her

We won’t ever go back to the way we were

And now I’m sure that every breath for her I take

Will wind up being just another mistake

I don’t know how to fake this love anymore

I always give it all for a little f*****g w***e

Its like a f*****g war, verbal bullets flying

Back and forth, we take turns dying

I keep trying but every end hurts so much

I’m scared to start new; falling out of touch

Memories I clutch will wake me from this nightmare

Love’s a hallucinogen, so buyer beware

It doesn’t compare to any other trip

And I don’t need to light it or even take a sip

But then it flips and I have my comedown

The warmth in my heart slowly turns to a facial frown

She’s no longer around to take advantage of me

No support or restriction; I can finally see

Without her, I am finally free
