Chapter Nine

By: Nick Workman

.. ..

Could I really have been so evil

And wind up where I am?

Will you take your needle

Along with your shaky hand

Mark my skin and etch my memories

On my canvas of a body

Like a sketch pad. It helps release

The ghosts of my lonely.

My tattoos are a chapter book

So I will never forget

My past and this is how I look

Without a regret.

If I erased my ink away

I’d be naked and forgotten.

But they’re permanent; here to stay,

Even memories rotten.
