The Running Man

The Running Man

A Poem by Phi Coulthard

He ran so far away
Back to the people he loved
So he can hide
With them not knowing
The things that really happened
And the burden he carries

It’s easier to lie
To those around him
Than to face the truth
One day he might believe
The stories he tells

He seeks redemption
A light in this dark world
For a crime he didn’t do
Holding on to the memory
That he’s afraid to let go

So many years pass
And he can’t move on
Nothing’s quite the same
There’s no one else to blame
