Clean Slate

Clean Slate

A Story by Joy Carver

As my feet bury themselves in the sand, I watch the glowing, silvery fairies dance along the crest of the waves. As their mesmerizing dance entrances my mind, my thoughts become serene. The darkness envelops the final glimpse of the light and the silkiness of the moons glow refreshes my troubled mind. The crash of the waves along the peaceful shore washes everything anew. All evidence of old disappears leaving a clean slate for yet another day. Tranquil thoughts and mind at ease, all traces of yesterday stolen by the dancing fairies and are now safely tucked away.

With these lovely words, you paint a vivid scene of sorrows washed away, replaced by hope. Being near water as a means to renewal is something our species finds natural, I think. Very nice writing, Joy.

This is beautiful! The imagery is lovely, especially that of the "glowing, silvery fairies dance along the crest of the waves." Fairies are often representations of innocence and purity, and you have taken a unique approach to this idea by combining it with the image of the cleansing power of waves washing against the sand. Very cool. Nice work!

The title "Clean Slate" seems to fit this story like a glove. Sometimes all a person needs is to take a break and let tranquility enter the mind.

Lovely imagery here. I enjoyed this Joy and I love fairies. I've not outgrown them yet.
