Out of the DarknessA Poem by moxieladymy struggles out of depression.Out of The Darkness
All light was gone. Only darkness and fear were visible. The darkness surrounded us and held us tight. Fear roared constantly in our ears.
Fear of living. Fear of life. Fear of the past. Fear of the future.
Flickering as if through the branches of a bare tree in the wind, a spark of light broke into the darkness. And danced on our soul warming it. The darkness wasn't as tight.
Still afraid of living. Still afraid of life. Still afraid of the past. Still afraid of the future.
The light brought out long dark shadows that hid our pain. Between the shadows a path arose. A path out of the darkness?. The darkness looked less dark.
Still afraid of living. Still afraid of life. Still afraid of the past. Still afraid of the future.
The light grew brighter and with it came words. As the words rained down the dark grew fainter. The words gave voice to the pain and fears. But still, the shadows remained.
Still afraid of living. Still afraid of life. Still afraid of the past. Still afraid of the future.
The words continue to cascade off the edge of our sanity. And are pushing away the shadows little by little. Exposing raw emotions of fear, shame, and guilt. And leaving wounds from the past open under the light, in their retreat.
Still afraid of living. Still afraid of life. Still afraid of the past Still afraid of the future.
The words, both spoken and written are driving away the darkness that once gripped us tight. And bring a healing balm to put on the wounds. With wounds, there will be scars. Scars that will be a testament, to the power of words.
No more fear of living. No more fear of life. No more fear of the past. No more fear of the future.
No more darkness. © 2017 moxielady |
