Exist As Me

Exist As Me

A Poem by Siobhan
"

When we begin to wonder who we are and what we're doing here...

"

Exist As Me

This chain wraps around my heart, pulls tightly –
hold me close to you on those days I cry
            against my wishes on days when I am
in need of security – so silent –
            unsure of where I stand, this place I’m in;
do you hear fear or hunger in my voice?

Balanced by hematite, I am quite poised,
offer up a vision of awareness
            avoiding the images in my mind
give the world a picture of perfection
            even as I feel myself disappear;
can you taste the desire in my kiss?

Hold me close – even if I step away,
understand my need to exist as me.
