A Year OlderA Poem by SiobhanHow did I get to another birthday without seeing time fly by me?
A Year Older
I've flipped calendar pages past summer's birth; eased into the season of our own. Are we truly one more year older? How did the days run away from me so fast? I glance at pictures framing our faces in yesterdays' glow of youth, happiness evident in our eyes – not yet tired. We are the image of young love sublime. Comfort rests inside the reflection of love I see in the blue eyes staring at me and the carefree smile that graces your lips; it's a look of untroubled existence. We have circled the world again, older – certainly wiser – and we are still here. Siobhan 06/24/08 © 2008 Siobhan |
