you and me

you and me

A Poem by Addie Santos

 you                                                                                             me

you’re an eclipse. you’re the first                                                i am nothing.

bike ride without training wheels.                                               nothing to you.

you’re the state of grace. you’re

the finish line. you’re the mixed

cd’s and tapes i make. you’re the

books i read. you’re the daisies,

the tulips, the wildflowers.

you’re a sofia coppola movie.

you’re an iron & wine song.

you’re what charles bukowski

will be proud of and what sylvia

plath will write about.

you’re an inertia.

you’re beauty when felt.

you’re beauty when seen.

you’re every coming and ending season.

you’re the moon in her every phase.

you’re what every artist will want

for in a muse.

when a flash of light passes by,

that’s you. you’re light.

you’re the dawn.

you’re the afternoon walks.

you’re in the coffee i sip,

brewed and bitter.

you’re everywhere.
