midnight thoughtsA Poem by Addie Santosi don’t think i can ever beat the girl who you grew up with, who you had damn sex in the backseat of your dad’s car and who thought you the art of blowing a dandelion. the one you said i love you oh so often with hushed tones and sweaty palms. i knew she made you want to iron your clothes and write poetry; comparing her to every drug you’ve ever tried, deciding that her whole self was so much more addicting. as her face is visible by the dim moonlight the pills she’s taking were not prescribed and soon enough rehab was not just a possibility but you were there with her breathing in the chemicals and the spellbound her blue eyes cursed on you. eight years has come by like an eyelash found, you’re in my bed covered with blankets i’ve possessed since i was seven. our fingers intertwined, and our legs tangled. your body heat making me so goddamn warm. that’s the most important thing - you’re here, right? right.
