Adelaide

Adelaide

A Poem by Addie Santos

Go find another lover

One who does not weep at a specific time

(3am between 6am)

who does not listen to crestfallen symphonies

who won’t dispute the brilliance

of two people speaking in hushed tones

who'll meet your parents dressed in

teared jeans and have dirty nails.

Find a woman with the bluest eyes

that remind you of chlorine infected swimming pools

unlike mine which are lifeless

like the doll staring at me right now,

do you think she’s undergoing the process

the one I’ve always talked to you about

taking a dip the River Styx.

I think it’s going to be easy,

you’ll come across her by the cereal counter,

or you can just call your ex lovers;

though you’ve fucked my brain

many more times you fucked those

beautiful women.

I’ve written their numbers all down in a pink Post-it note

and it’s sticked on your expired milk.

You really have to get rid of that.

Nice I liked this, seems a bit of a thinly veiled F U but a lot of good love poems are.My favourite parts are the cereal counter and expired milk lines. (:

Well now, this is quite the little rant in your poem. I could feel the torment of exasperation here. Love the 'expired milk' reference. A few resonating lines fly off the page, why don't you just say how you really feel. ;-) That woke me out of my stupor, good read.
