Hollow Words

Hollow Words

A Poem by Michele
"

an old poem

"
I look at the floor
I've turned cold
Life, and suffering and sorrow
Have swallowed me whole
I don't see anything anymore.

You lifted me up on such hollow words.
Now my voice chokes and trembles when I say your name
It's like acid in my mouth, burning my core
Burning the giant hole in my chest.
I blinked, and nothing more.
Would you warm my bones if I asked you?
Would you reach the sky if I asked you?
A long time ago you would have.
A long time ago I'd believe you.
This cold, cold and hollow and empty.
The stars are empty.
