Dark, Sandy Mirrors

Dark, Sandy Mirrors

A Poem by Michele
"

old poem i wrote in high school

"
What would they say
If I threw it all away?
Forgot your name, forgot your face.
If everything were erased?

Time slips through your fingers like sand.
Once in awhile, I forget who I am.
Inscribed on this wall,
Words and phrases,
Bits and pieces.
I'll never erase them.

Though, my mind is made up.
...I think. Mirrors everywhere,
Looking through them, I see no face.
Or, at least, it is a face unlike my own.
I don't understand it, I don't want to understand it.
I just want the mirror to leave me alone.

There is too much sand in my mirror.
It's getting foggy. I cannot see a thing.
Someone turned out the lights,
Maybe thats why I can no longer see.
But even if I could, I wouldn't want to see you,
standing right in front of me.
