An EpiphanyA Poem by dawn aulisThis poem is about my teenage daughter and our struggle to find our way through her becoming an adult, and my having to let her go.... An epiphany A sign, a
break Some
clarity. I thought
I’d lost All I gave, My heart, my
soul To the one I
gave. Who meant
the most Of all my
gifts, I thought
was gone, An awesome
rift. To break a
heart, And leave me
broke I gave my
all, But at the
end I choked. Then a
surprise An epiphany, You say you
found, A wondrous
gift, Some common
ground. Thank you
lord, For I am
blessed. Found your
way back, We passed a
test. I love you
more, Then you
could know, I hope you
see, I love you
so. My sweet
girl, Is still in
there. Underneath The smile
and hair. She still
lives, In your
soul, Keep her
there, As you grow. Life is long
When you are
grown, Enjoy each
day, Make it your
own. My heart
soars, Just at the
thought, That you
understand, My tight
spot. I’d love to
say, I’d let you
go, But my heart
would break, I love you
so. I will try, If you do
the same, We’ll find
our way, In life’s
game. © 2013 dawn aulis |
