Unsuspecting FateA Story by MorganBlairUnsuspecting fate
Serenity and Nickolas were sitting in physiology both not paying any attention to what Mr. James was saying. Nickolas was doing what he does best; drawing, while Serenity was doing what she does best; her make-up and texting her friends. Mr. James announced to the class that they have a project. Nobody in that class liked his projects; they were always complicated and had a short amount of time to do them. Serenity finished re-applying her make up and looked up at Mr. James, wondering what the project was this week. Nickolas was still focused on his artwork and decided not to even bother to look up at the teacher as he explained what they had to do. “Nickolas! Are you paying attention?” He looked up from his paper and glared at Mr. James. Serenity looked back at Nickolas and rolled her eyes. “Gah, why don’t you just drop out? Heck, you don’t do anything but draw.” Mr. James started to get agitated and told them both to be quiet so he could finish explaining the project. “Anyway before I was interrupted,” he glared at both Seni and Nickolas, who glanced at each other. “You will be partnered up and I will choose your partner. Not you. The project will be due Monday.” Mr. James grabbed a stack of papers off his desk and began to pass them out. “This paper has everything you need to know about the project, Ill call out the partners in a few minuets.” Serenity got her paper and began to read over it. ‘Ohmygod, this is a bunch of bull, I am not staying the weekend with some loser from this class for a stupid project,’ Serenity rolled her eyes and answered a text from her friend Jess. She explained the project and how she didn’t want to do it, but had to. Jess’s response was just plain and simple: ha-ha! As soon as Seni finished reading the text, Mr. James called out the partners, and lucky for Seni, she got stuck with Nickolas; who was a total weird gothic punk guy, who didn’t really have any friends. Surprisingly to Serenity, he was cute but he could use some change. Class ended, and she met up with Nickolas at lunch to talk about the project. “So, whose house do you want to meet at? Mine or yours, it don’t matter to me but its your call.” Nickolas didn’t say much, all he did say was “my house, after school.” Serenity didn’t know why he was so quiet, but she intended to change it. She kept trying to see what he was drawing, but he kept it covered. “Well, I do need to know where you live. Gah! What do you keep drawing?” Seni tried to reach for the piece of paper but he was quick and grabbed her wrist. She let out a slight shriek from the pain. Some people looked at them and gave them a weird look. “Let go of my darn wrist, now!” Seni didn’t like people grabbing her like that. He let go after a couple more seconds. “Don’t touch my stuff, especially when you come over.” The bell rang for the last class and Nickolas walked away but left a ripped piece of paper on the table, it was his address. She picked it up, and walked to class. Chemistry passed pretty fast for Serenity. Near the end of the day, she redid her make-up for the 4th time today. Jess continued to text her and talk about the day she had been having, and how she hated that Seni was paired with Nickolas for that project, Seni agreed. As soon as the bell rang to go home, Seni was out the door and walking to her car where Jess was waiting. Jess was laughing at Seni as she walked up to her black mustang convertible. The got in the car and started it up. Leavening the school parking lot, they put the top down and blasted the music. They got to Serenities house at about three fifteen. While walking into the door, Seni’s chocolate lab, sugar, ran up to the both of them and jumped up, almost knocking their books out of their hands. “Down sugar, down girl, calm down, mommy’s home.” They walked up to Seni’s room as Sugar trailed behind. “Seni, where’s that paper about that project?” Jess asked Seni as she walked towards her bathroom to check her make-up. “In my binder, I put it on my bed.” Jess walked over to the binder and got out the sheet of paper, her mouth hit the ground as she read over it. “Girl you know you have to stay with him, like stay all weekend long?!” Seni ran over to Jess, just as shocked as she was, she took out her phone and called Nickolas to see if he knew about it. “Um, yea I already knew, your staying in the guest room, I’ve got it all set up and waiting for you.” Seni ended the call after she told him she would be over soon. “He already knew. Gah! I feel stupid.” Jess got out the duffle bag from Serenity’s closet and placed it on her bed. Serenity went back to the bathroom to gather what she needed, while Jess was getting what she needed from the main room. Sugar was lying in the corner on her bed. The girls started pulling out clothes to take to Nickolas’. About ten minuets later, Serenity took Jess home and drove to Nickolas’s house.
Serenity walked up the steps to and old Victorian style house and rang the doorbell. Nickolas came to the door shortly after, dressed in jeans and a black tight tee-shirt. He moved aside as Serenity walked inside, and got run up on by three bulldogs. “I hope you don’t mind dogs, this is Demon, Spike, and Teddy” Nickolas said smiling. Seni leaned down and petted the dogs and smiled. “I love dogs, but can I ask how in the world did these two dogs,” she said pointing to Spike and Demon, “Get the hard core names and this one gets named Teddy.” Seni stood back up and the dogs walked away, “Teddy was my mother’s dog, before she, um, died.” Seni suddenly realized that must have been the cause for a lot of how Nickolas is. Seni followed Nickolas up the stairs and to the spare bedroom to get settled in. She asked if she could get a quick shower and then they start on the project. “Yea that’s fine; the towels are in the bathroom, which is down the hall in font of my room.” Seni nodded and he left her to go downstairs to the kitchen. Seni walked into the bathroom, stripped and got into the shower. As Seni took a shower, Nickolas’ friends walked into the kitchen where he was. “Hey dude, is there someone upstairs? I hear the shower going.” Both his friends gave him this negative look. “No guys, its not what you think, she’s working on a project with me, and she has to stay here the weekend. Guys, she really isn’t my type. She’s a total prep and you know I hate those stuck up witches. Plus you guys Know good and well that she wont stay long here, I mean how in the world am I going to hid the fact that im a vampire while she’s here. I have to feed and I cant while she’s here.” Jason; a blond hair, blue eyed tall pale gothic hottie, spoke up and said, “She’s out of the shower dude.” Nickolas looked at the stairs as Seni walked down in shorts and a camisole, her hair was still damp and she took off her make-up. “Wow, dude, you sure she isn’t your type? She’s a total babe,” Eathen whispered to Nickolas. Seni stopped on the last step to pet Teddy who was lying there peacefully. “Well hey there; I didn’t know you had company Nickolas. ....Ill.... go back up to my room if you would like me to,” she said innocently. She walked to the nearest barstool and sat down while looking at Nickolas. “No, your fine Seni.” Nickolas fought back the urge to smile at her, especially since his friends were there. “Im Jason and this is Eathen, you must be Nickolas’ project partner.” Seni shook Jason and Eathens’. “Yupp that would be me. Im Serenity, but I prefer to be called Seni.” The guys looked at each other and Nickolas spoke up, “Serenity means peaceful in Latin doesn’t it Seni?” Serenity was surprised Nickolas paid attention to that detail. Most people just thought it was pretty, or odd and never asked it had meaning. Seni gave a quick applause to Nickolas for knowing the meaning of her name. “Wow Nickolas, im proud you know that, not many people do. Did you study Latin?” Serenity leaned more to Nikolas as she waited for a response. Eathen walked to the refrigerator and got out a bottle of water and slid it to Seni. “Thanks Eathen.” Serenity turned her attention back to Nickolas. He gave her a simi smile and said, “Yea, I studied Latin for three years. It may be a dead language, but its beautiful, and Serenity was always a beautiful name to me and it fits for you.” Serenity couldn’t help but to smile. For someone who wasn’t very social, and didn’t talk to girls much, he sure did no how to compliment one. Why in the world did Seni find Nickolas more and more attractive every time she looked at him? All of a sudden, Jason interrupted the silent conversation going on between Seni and Nickolas. “Um, Seni, I think your phone is ringing. Or am I just hearing things?” Seni ran up the stairs to get her phone. It was Jess seeing if she was still alive. “Hey jess, what’s up?” Seni said as she walked to the bathroom to brush her hair. Jess asked if she was okay and if he was as weird at home as he was at school. Seni didn’t think he was weird now, she felt attracted to him, and she couldn’t ever tell Jess this, but she was falling for Nickolas. Little did Seni know, James was eavesdropping, well reading her mind. Although he didn’t tell Nickolas what Seni was thinking, He transferred her thoughts to Eathen. ‘Nickolas is really cute, and he isn’t such a bad guy, I don’t know why Jess keeps bagging on him like that. I would tell her to stop but then she would know I’ve got feelings for him. I wonder if he likes me back. He is really really cute.’ James and Eathen looked at each other, knowing what Nickolas would say if he found out they were reading her mind. He had always hated it, it was very rude and an invasion on a persons privacy. “Nickolas, dude, you need to feed. How are you going to get away long enough to hunt? You look tired, and we don’t want you attacking Seni while she sleeps.” Nickolas did feel really tired, and he did in fact need to feed, but how? That was the million dollar question. “While she’s sleeping tonight, ill sneak out, and feed I don't want to attack her either.” A few minuets later, Seni came bouncing down the steps and back into the kitchen where the guys were still at. Seni noticed that there was a mess on the counter behind Nickolas. It looked like he actually cooked something; pizza is what it looked like. “Nickolas, did you make pizza while I was on the phone?” He gave a shy smile and nodded his head, “yupp, its in the oven now. I love homemade pizza, I hope you like lots of cheese and sausage.” Seni’s mouth started to water at the thought of fresh, hot, homemade pizza. She loved a guy who can cook, and with each passing moment, she was falling for Nickolas more and more. “Oh, I love pizza, especially cheese and sausage. Its my favorite.” Moments later, Nickolas opened the over and took the pizza out, as he started slicing the hot fresh dinner, Jason and Eathen announced that they had to go. “Awh, are you guys sure you cant stay?” Seni really didn’t want to be left alone with Nickolas, especially now that she had admitted to herself that she liked him. “Naw, sorry, we have to go. Nickolas wont bite, you going to be safe with him.” After that, they left. Leaving Seni alone with a guy she was falling hard for. They ate the pizza in kind of an awkward silence. “it was very delicious Nickolas, would you like some help cleaning up?” Seni said as she took her plate and cup to the sink. “No, I’ve got it, thank you. Maybe you should get some sleep. We have to get to work on that project in the morning.” He loaded the dishes in the dishwasher. Turning towards her, he looked into her eyes, then his gaze fell to her jugular; tan and long, he could almost hear the blood flowing through her veins. He wanted it more than anything he could have picked up off the street. Seni smiled at him, she turned away and walked up stairs to her room. “wow.” She spoke out loud. It was almost midnight, and she was super sleepy. She decided to head off to bed. She needed her brain power to work on the ridiculous project in the morning. Turning off the light, she slid under the soft, fluffy comforter. She laid there thinking about Nickolas until she drifted off to sleep.
Nickolas was really hungry, although he just ate; he wanted something much more different than pizza. That was just an act he put on for Serenity. He walked slowly up the steps and drifted into her room. She looked beautiful. Blonde hair cascading the pillow she rested on, her porcelain skin looked beautiful in the moonlight. She had opened the window he just realized. Nickolas sat on the edge of the bed, watching her as she slept, contemplating what he should do. Seni let out a sigh as she opened her eyes to see Nickolas sitting there. “Hey, is something wrong?” She asked him in a sleepy tone. He just smiled at her, “No, nothing is wrong; I was just admiring how beautiful you look in the moonlight.” Seni sat up against the headboard and looked deep into Nickolas’ dark vampire eyes. Nickolas leaned forward and wrapped his cold hand around Seni’s neck and drew her closer to him. The minuet their lips touched, Seni saw fireworks. The kiss was passionate, and deep. It was like no way she had ever been kissed before, she loved it. Serenity pulled Nickolas as close as she could have gotten him without pulling him on top of her. She didn’t want the kiss to stop, but Nickolas pulled away as he trailed down her neck to her jugular. He was going to have what he had wanted the minuet he saw her enter his house. Serenity tilted her head back to give him better access to her throat. She thought he was just going to keep kissing her, but Nickolas had other plans.
Nickolas let his fangs slip out of his gums, as he moved over her neck and throat. Serenity was lost in the sensation to pay attention to what he was about to do. Nickolas found the spot on her jugular were her blood pounded the hardest; he stopped kissing her and looked deep into his victims eyes. Serenity wasn’t sure if she was seeing things or if she was really seeing fangs in his mouth. Suddenly, as Serenity realized how wrong everything was, Nickolas bit down hard into her jugular, tearing flesh and muscles. Serenity tried to scream but she couldn’t. She would be dead soon, She would be killed by the gothic hottie she fell for; she was going to be killed by a vampire! Blood ran down her chest and the side of Nickolas’ mouth. There was so much pain, but just like that, it was gone. Nickolas had drained her dry and cleaned off himself as he stood up. Serenity laid there, on a blood stained bed, eyes wide opened, throat torn wide apart, and very very dead.
