All I Do is Wonder

All I Do is Wonder

A Poem by Morgan Jenkins

He chips away the fragility
of my body and my mind.
He stings my eyes with beauty,
leaves all hopelessness behind.
His smile strikes me harder than
lightning strikes in summer storms.
He toys with my emotions softly,
despite the fact that they are worn.
Costing life and costing limb
to put a smile on his face,
our many days we've spent together
has birthed a love I can't erase.
But now he is a phantom
in my body and my mind.
Now all I do is wonder,
"Why did he leave me far behind?"

Author's Note

Morgan Jenkins
what do you think of the way i rounded the entire poem out by using the first two rhymes matching almost identically to the last two? I was pretty satisfied with how well that worked out.
