Night

Night

A Poem by moosicphreak
"

I wrote this for a persuasive project in HN lit. my class liked it, so I figured i would put it up. Focused on Night by Elie Wiesel

"

You sit there and you read

The story of a child

Forced to run and bleed

You stand there and you speak

Of a history

Which we’d rather not think

The power in the pages

Wiesel speaks

A sorrow of his young ages

As a child he was forced to endure

Family torn

A killing of faith pure

With forced march

And starvation

The conditions were harsh

Imposed on a nation

The children in our schools

Never realize

How lucky we are

To walk along under American skies

And never have to worry

About the larceny

Of our lives

How could you stand?

To let it be forgotten?

Common sense gone rotten

Hitler terrorizing the land

If we do not keep history in the present, our past will not come well.

I absolutely love this poem because I read the book "Night" by Elie Wiesel as well in 9th grade. It really left a very big impression on me. It's true that a lot of other people don't care about the world around them. Very well done.

I actually wrote a poem based on "Night" called "Soul". It's in my writing profile.

I read that book last year and it was incredibly moving and sad.
Your poem reminded me of everything in that book, and it was a touching poem.
