The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse

A Poem by Bo Lanier

Tower burning bright

To bring him home again

For the love of his life

So close but still so very

Far away just like frozen

In the eye of a hurricane

And so the Sailor prays...

Dear God if you can hear

Me I know I ain't always

Been the man you've wanted

I to be but if you'll just

Get me back to the Lighthouse

Where my beloved waits for

Me I promise I'll be the

Man you've always wanted me

To be and this will be my last

Voyage out to Sea

I know she never stops her

Worry and it pains me to know

I cause her such pain

All I'm asking for is just one

More chance to make it alright

It’s a crying shame how fear

Can make a man come back to

Him I used to think I could

Never live without being out

The open Sea now I realize I

Could never live without my wife

And now I can almost see the

Tower burning bright

An Angel waiting on the balcony

For me tonight...he prays...

Oh Lord if you can hear me please

Grant me this one prayer I pray

Please don't let me go to my grave

Without seeing my love's smiling

Face and lovely eyes looking straight

Back into mine oh Dear God help

Me back to The Lighthouse and I

Promise you that is where I will stay

There with you and my precious

Darling and live out the rest of my

Days in the tower so bright

If you'll just get me back to the

Lighthouse back to The Lighthouse

Tonight!
