Passing The River I saw men at war
And I mourned the dead I thought to myself why can't we just love each other instead Passing The River I saw starving children at play It made me laugh a little but then the smile faded away Feeling their pain I bowed my head and prayed Passing The River I smelled disease, poverty and plaques all around and the stance of rotten fruit on the ground Oh Passing The River I heard women singing songs of faith and spiritual glory that warmed my heart a little and almost restored my faith in humanity Passing The River I spoke to God saying yes we need you now more than ever Please bring us back to love and peace and make us better Oh God don't you know we need you more than ever I prayed Passing The River! © 2015 Bo Lanier |
