Unfolding.

Unfolding.

A Poem by Lydia
"

Memories, mostly.

"

I remember when I wrote like you,
Spoke like you, or at least
When I tried to let it all
Flow like you do.
I flow like your hair in the wind,
Like something unnaturally wild.
You wrote to me,
“Be free”
I have tried, time after time,
To let my mind unfold;
Employing the help
Of anything I could get my hands on.
You are probably ashamed of me
And the substance abuse,
Well that, dear, is the substance of abuse.
So, go ahead and shrug it off like when
I told you about September.
And I wonder if you remember
The way your body felt against mine,
Or the way our souls could coincide.
I am not so sure what the past did
Or what the future fails to hold in store,
But I do know I loved you once,
Or something like that.
