Loss.

Loss.

A Poem by Lydia

Life is bittersweet,

like the taste of your lips

and the smell of rain.

My sky has fallen,

I cave in upon myself.

I am alive,

but a part of me dies,

and the sorrow I feel

is inexplicable, woe:

I am fading,

I sink to the sea.

You cannot save me you say,

and yet you refuse to try.

Earth and Sky unite

and on the horizon,

A tree with heart-shaped leaves.

Love is vast,

unfathomable,

and Life is so

forgettable -

Until it is Lost.

It's going somewhere; I love its beauty and it's message.

However, I would take out some of the "common" lines you might see in other poetry (the sky is falling, I fell through the sea) and come up with something from your life that might fall or you might sink through. Elaborate on it, build it in. I think that would add something to the poem. :)
