A Poem by Lydia

Delicate fruit
Holding it against my tongue
Disintegrated
We are living
Always in the place
Between feast and famine
Water everywhere
Nothing to drink
The light is too far
The darkness too close

When I drive
I close my eyes sometimes
Challenging the things
I can't control
Control me!
I can't

Time slips away
Sometimes so slow
We don't even notice
Every year we say
How can it already be July
August looms ahead of me
Dry and disparate
I am falling apart
Like the fruit on my tongue
Double edged sword

Some days I try
To remember what she told me
Something about
Being unbecoming
Or something that
Doesn't suit me
But try as I might
I can't remember

Maybe one day
In the moments of
Closed eyes on a
Shadowed highway
I will hear her voice again

Living not in control of ourselves...two in one body...the one voice forgotten, the new one confused...

becoming, or unbecoming...darkness or light?
Driving forward in life with little direction or purpose, that other side of her knew...but the voice is silent.
this is really good poetry, Lydia,
j.
