Noose.

Noose.

A Poem by Lydia

You don’t know what it is to love.

The grandeur, the splendor,

All is lost on an unthinking heart.

The humbleness of a subtle look,

All it took,

But I refuse to let you take anymore.

You’ve hurt me time and time again

Kicking me always when I’m down

Smashing my heart, my soul, my love

Upon the dusty dried-out ground.

You say those three words too often.

Hello, Goodbye, Please, Thanks,

But I never realized how little they meant,

How much time I spent trying to teach you

What it means to say “I love you”.

And I want to end it, but too much fear lingers,

Fear of death, not yours but mine,

Struggling, grasping,

You throw me a rope,

Finally,

But it’s right around my neck.
