Effect Clause.

Effect Clause.

A Poem by Lydia

How much effect did we just cause?

To be perfectly honest,

I'd rather not look you in the eye.

And to reveal all my lies,

I never want to see you again

None of this "just friends"

I know you now, and

That's not how you work

With your flaws and your flirts

And if I could blame it on you,

Then I would

But like everything else:

It's my fault.

No Macbeth, and

Certainly not a Lady,
Vaulting Ambition?

I think not

Just my willingness to

Succumb to temptation

A lot has been cast and

I'm waiting and watching,

Trying not to worry as

You reassure me with

Lullabies and "baby"s

And maybe, just maybe

This wasn't what I wanted

And stop with the "baby"s

Because I just lost it
