Amplitude

Amplitude

A Poem by Lydia

She used to take pictures
before it was cool
before all the girls defined themselves
as amateur photographers

I wonder if she still has any photos of me
I keep the one from Halloween
in a chest with my other memories

Sometimes I open it and trifle through my things
Holding each one in my hand
until I feel something again
like what it was to be young
or feel loved
or what the grief was like
when we decided it was done

I wonder if anyone has trinkets
they saved to remember me by
or if they keep those in
a different chest
nestled close to their heart
just not close enough to touch
