Wraith

Wraith

A Poem by Lydia

I went walking in the dead of night
just to show how brave I am
just hoping some stranger
might harass me
or worse
I'm not afraid of dying
I'm only afraid of living the way
I have been
Solitary confinement
in a world of people
Not a single thing to call my own
except for me
and I'm not worth having
Nobody came out of the alleys
or the bushes I passed
Nobody even saw me
simply because
there's nothing to see

Those last three lines throw an emotional gut punch. We all want to have weight in the world and pull some kind of wake... the feeling of worthlessness and emptiness is overwhelming at times. Your structure and form is great, and your metaphor is fresh. I'm kinda feeling this way right now so this one has me invested.
