Despondency

Despondency

A Poem by Lydia

I had a dream
I braided my hair
and one braid just fell out
When I let my hair back down
it was all there, seemingly
only I could tell
that some was missing
What a strong metaphor
for my loss of strength
Nobody but me
can tell how badly
I am losing my battle

The side of us we show the world is manufactured, and we as people are very good at masking the turmoil within. Technical... love the metaphor, and really enjoy how you call it out as a metaphor. This makes the piece confession, and it draws the reader in by making them feel they are a part of the process. Really well done.
