Retrograde

Retrograde

A Poem by Lydia

Some days I lay on the old bed
Dreaming that drowning
Is just floating in reverse
But maybe it just looks that way
The stars do not define me
Not even the one that lights up
His face in my hands
I could never lose this
It would not slip like sand
Through my fingers
Like so many memories
Of long before

"Dreaming that drowning / Is just floating in reverse" wow, that's some powerful, powerful imagery... hits right in the feels. I can definitely feel the loss, and I like how you kick in the nostalgia at the end with "Like so many memories / Of long before"... the older I get, the more I feel I have to ditch in order to hold on to the here and now, and these lines definitely resonated.
